The need to take care of a baby’s oral health starts even before their first tooth comes in. Your baby may be incapable of eating solid food yet, but that doesn’t make them immune to dental issues. Here are tips to taking care of baby gums and teeth to ensure stellar oral health as they grow:

But be sure to use only a little amount until they learn how to spit water out. Fluoride can also be sourced from water and supplements. If your water supply isn’t fluoridated, you can always seek assistance from your dentist. You dentist will know whether it’s necessary to give your baby fluoride supplements.
• Take your baby to the dental office.You may visit the dentist once your baby’s first tooth comes in or after their first birthday. Either way, make sure to get their teeth checked by your dentist. Your dentist will check for any signs of poor dental health.
• Watch out for culprits of tooth decay.Fruits, peanut butter, and jelly are only some examples of food items that can cause tooth decay. While these foods offer nutritional value to your baby, they can also contribute to cavities if their mouth is not cleaned properly.  Make sure food residue is not left on their teeth for too long.
• Choose the right pacifier. Babies have the propensity to suck as this helps them calm down and relax. If your little one uses a pacifier, make sure it comes in a single piece and is large enough so they won’t swallow it. Eventually, help them to overcome their sucking habit. The sooner, the better. Otherwise, they may develop dental issues that may have long-lasting effects on their teeth.
